Websites are your best marketing strategy in the current digital climate. 81 percent of Americans say they go online on a daily basis, with the average adult user spending 6 hours per day on digital media (including smartphones, desktops, laptops, and other devices). With that amount of time spent online, consumers expect that a company, brand or business has a digital presence, and will deem those that don’t unprofessional.

Right now, there are over 3.5 billion Google searches every single day, and they process over 40,000 searches every second. With that said, at this very moment, there is someone who is searching for your company and your exact services. There is a good rationale behind companies that invest in a website with search engine optimization (SEO). 55 percent of people will search online for recommendations and reviews before making a decision to purchase, while 47 percent visit the company website. With all the hustle and bustle Google is getting from search queries every second, it only makes sense for your company to have a website.

Reason #3: 75 percent of consumers admit to making judgments about a company's integrity based on the company's website

No website = no trust from consumers. In 2018, roughly 75 percent of people say that they make judgments about a company based on how their website looks. Consumers are more likely to do business and trust a company if there is a website where they can go to check for reviews, credentials and services. Be careful though—poor website designs will only hurt you. After all, you have 10 seconds to leave a lasting impression on site visitors. After that, they will leave. 

Reason #4: Social media reach is shrinking

At one point or another, you will have said, “But I’m on Facebook—I don’t need a website.” 

Okay, so is every business in the United States. Websites are a must, even if you already have a Facebook page. 

Guess what? It’s getting more and more tricky for businesses to connect with users on that platform. In 2018, an eMarketer study found that daily social media use decreased 2 percent; especially among US users 18 and up. US adult users also spent roughly 38 minutes per day on Facebook, which was down three minutes from 2017 and will continue to drop well into 2021.

While social media is a great tool to add to your company’s belt, don’t plan on using it as your one and only marketing channel.

Reason #5: Answer the basic questions quickly

We live in an age of NOW, where consumers want information quickly and painlessly—meaning that your company’s website should answer three main questions immediately, without having to scroll:

  • Who are you?
  • What do you do?
  • What you offer? 
  • How do I contact you?  

These questions should be answered within three seconds of visitors landing on your website, or they will click off and go to your competitors.

The final takeaway: The cost of having a website is priceless compared to being left behind

A recent B2B study from Clutch.co found that 64 percent of small businesses have a website. 

This should tell you two things: 

  1.  64 percent of businesses are doing better than yours 
  2. You have a chance to beat them by 36 percent if you get a website right now

People who tell you that your business doesn’t need a website are flat out wrong.
